It was an hour drive, but once inside the resort, it seems secluded from everything else. The canoeing in the lake was magical, as were all the adventure activities. All six of us were novices to adventure sports, but the session with the instructors got us through them with zeal. The staff was really friendly and very courteous. It almost felt like home.
The food was average but the setting for lunch and tea was ideal. We had lunch on tables set by the lake under the shade of the canopy and tea on the creek in the lake. The levels of cleanliness was commendable.

It started from the point we arrived and were transferred to a jeep for a 30 min ride into the jungle. Then a walk down to the actual resort in the middle of the night. We were treated like royalty, but all of the staff made an effort to come and talk to us each morning at breakfast and see how we were going and if there was any adventure that we would like to undertake. Definitely do the jungle walk to the waterfall and take a camera!
The jungle resort beautifully encapsulates what is the jungle without making you completely ruff it. Whilst the ‘huts’ have roofs, some have thick curtains rather than walls. The bed is covered in high lovely mosquito nets and you have private open air cold showers and bathroom attached all under one roof. However if you are not able for rough roads or have a fear of hanging bridges this place is probably not for you. It is very hard to find – stop at Jungle Inn and they will sort it from there. Access requires a safari vehicle and then walking for the last few minutes, accompanied by porters carrying our bags, over a bridge suspended above a fast river. For the price they are charging, where do I begin…
The place is very very basic. No shampoo in the bathroom, no water bottles, nor kettle /tea or coffee in the room. No T.V., no telephone to comunicate with the reception, which is far. Having said that, the staff hardly knows English, so comunication is very difficult any way. The hot water in the bathroom finish after one minute of shower.
Breakfast is very basic, although it was o.k. for us.
Also note that it is far from Ella. We knew that in advance, but after visiting Ella and its nice restaurants, we recomend staing in the city, where you have a choice of things to do in the evening.
The bottom line – we highly recomend to avoid this place.

We could have left the bulk of our luggage at the sister hotel at the top, which would have kept it drier. Considering we had the worst rain for years the hotel staff managed very well. They served beer, but the only food option was a vegetarian BBQ, which was one of the most expensive meals of our stay. The manager reduced the charge for us, but as there really is no alternative this place should be just full-board. In the morning service was slow, which would be fine if we had been staying more than one night. It is a hotel I will remember, and would like to return to explore around the jungle. Just a bit more care with food would have been excellent. Also due to the eco credentials no sun means no hot water….. If you have young children they will need supervising. The lodges themselves are lovely, and when the resort is completed and a few teething problems ironed out it should be fantastic.
